Former vice president Joe Biden is now officially on the ballot in South Carolina after he completed his paperwork in a booth at Food for the Soul Restaurant in Abbeville.

Cameramen lined up outside the restaurant early Friday to catch the 77-year-old as he met with the owner and her daughter before the big event.

“How are you? I’ve heard an awful lot about you,” Biden told the woman as he caressed her hand. “Good to see you.”

The former VP gave the woman a hug before turning to her daughter.

“You. How old are you?” Biden questioned.

When the girl replied “eighteen,” Biden exclaimed: “You’re getting old.”

After some hand-holding and other niceties, Biden greeted the press and retreated inside with the women and a staffer.

News crews jostled in the tiny restaurant to get a shot of Biden as he filled out paperwork with Democratic Party Chairman Trav Robertson at a booth, as others recorded the spectacle with their cell phones.

“You’re officially on the ballot!” Robertson told Biden, shaking his hand.

“Alright!” a woman shouted as the crowd broke into applause.

“I’m going to need your help!” Biden told the crowd.

It’s unclear what, if anything, Biden ate at the establishment – the sign says soul food is served only on Thursday and Sunday – but it’s certainly not the first time he’s relied on stereotypical southern fare to court black voters.

Biden made a spectacle earlier this year with a visit to Dulan’s, a famed black soul food restaurant on Los Angeles’ Crenshaw Boulevard.

In July, Biden donned an apron and Dulan’s hat to serve up a heaping helping of grits, eggs and other breakfast fare to a handful of patrons who came to get a glimpse of the former VP.

As patrons approached, Biden shook their hands then served them a steaming pile, which prompted some to question whether he ever bothered to wash his hands.

“Do people still fall for this shit?” Adam Tolegian said of Biden’s pandering in July. “I can almost hear Hillary’s southern drawl from the kitchen.”

“This man is the embodiment of cringeworthy,” JIRA SNOW tweeted.
