Pastor James McDonald of Harvest Bible Chapel in Elgin, Illinois preached about the “Signs of the Last Times” Sunday morning, within days of the Oregon college shooting in which the killer focused his hatred and destruction on professing Christians.

Pastor McDonald told his congregation “the bravest person in America was the second Christian killed” for professing his or her faith in that classroom last week. The first Christian didn’t know for sure what would happen when he confessed his faith, McDonald said, the second one saw what would happen and knowingly paid the price.

This segment describing how poorly gun control laws will work to end the violence against Christians is moving:

“This kind of wicked hatred is inspired by Satan himself. He has no interest in eliminating people who are sourcing their faith in the false religions that he established. His only goal is to shame and disgrace Jesus, to deny God’s word, and to destroy God’s people. That’s what he’s going for.

“So we’re going to get a killer on the rampage. We don’t have to be discreet anymore. All of this is escalating and now it’s just a straight-out hatred of Christians.

“What grieves me most of all is our awareness that if he had targeted Muslims or minorities, we would not cease to hear about it in the news,” McDonald said.

The pastor said he avoids getting political in his church, but slammed the notion that the answer to targeting Christians is gun control.

“Are we stupid that we let people tell us that more laws are somehow going to solve a problem that is sourced in the enemy of our souls who at this moment is rallying every force within his control to target his hatred on the land of Israel and upon God’s people who are following Jesus around the word?

“I’m not going to be silent about this and I’m not naive about it and I’m not numb to it,” McDonald said.
