CNN’s Alisyn Camerota apparently thinks any Democrat considering a run for president in 2020 should check their race before making a final decision.

During a segment Monday morning on CNN’s “New Day,” Camerota asked Colorado Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper if 2020 is “the right time” for a “white guy” to run for president.

“You know the debate that the Democratic Party is having right now — is it time to have somebody of color and a woman and somebody younger?” Camerota asked. “Or somebody more establishment?”

In response to Camerota’s politically-infused question, Hickenlooper pointed out the obvious.

“I think that the Democrats across the country are going to help decide that,” Hickenlooper said. “I’m not sure it’s clear what is exactly needed. But I do know there are a lot of strong opinions.”

“As a white guy, are you trying to calculate whether or not this is the right time for you?” Camerota asked.

“Well, this is the time it’s worked out,” Hickenlooper said, noting that his term as the governor of Colorado ends after this year.

“I’ve been good at bringing people together that historically have been antagonistic,” Hickenlooper said. “Maybe the country needs someone that can bring the divided parts of the country, and the divided constituencies, back together.”

Hickenlooper, who is hardly known nationally, has reportedly been interviewing potential campaign managers ahead of his decision.

But more importantly, Camerota was essentially shaming the Democratic governor for considering a presidential bid given he’s white.

Aside from Camerota apparently thinking being white could disqualify someone from running president, Democrats don’t have an overwhelmingly favorite candidate.

According to a recent poll by Hill.TV, “none of the above” is one of the most popular choices for Democratic voters when asked who they would like to see challenge President Donald Trump in 2020.

Other notable names made the poll: former Vice President Joe Biden, twice failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and Sens. Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, and Kamala Harris.

“Thirty percent of the sample said they would prefer that ‘none of the above’ become the Democratic nominee,” the report found.

Overall, Biden came in second with 25 percent, followed by Sanders with 18 percent, and Clinton with 12 percent.

Booker, Harris, and Warren all registered in low single digits.

The poll shows that there’s no clear frontrunner, but according to Camerota’s logic, any candidate who is white should consider not running for president in 2020.
