It’s almost as if CNN has become the National Enquirer of cable news.

North Korea? Big deal!

Illegal Immigration? So what!

Booming economy? Who cares!

During the White House briefing on Wednesday, CNN’s Jeff Zeleny asked no fewer than four questions about a porn star who has denied having a relationship with Trump.

“Did the President approve of the payment that was made in October 2016 by his longtime lawyer and advisor Michael Cohen?” Zeleny asked Sarah Sanders.

She responded Trump has addressed the issue “directly” and that the President won the case in arbitration.

“When did the President ask specifically the cash payment that was made in October 2016?” he asked.

After Sanders answered said, Zeleny again asked, “What about the payment at that time though?”

“I’ve addressed this as far as I can go,” Sanders said.

“Did he know about the payment?” Zeleny continued.

As Sanders attempted to move on, Zeleny again asked about the porn star.

“Has he talked to Michael Cohen about that if I can just ask one more question about that?”

“I don’t know, I’m not sure,” Sanders replied.

In January, the Chicago Tribune reported:

Anticipation had been building for the interview that porn star Stormy Daniels was set to give late-night host Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night following President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech.

And then just a few hours before it hit the airwaves came a curveball: Daniels, who in 2011 gave an interview in which she claimed (in lurid detail) to have had an affair with Trump, apparently issued a statement saying she hadn’t actually had such a relationship after all. “The fact of the matter is that each party to this alleged affair denied its existence in 2006, 2011, 2016, 2017 and now again in 2018,” the statement read. “I am not denying the affair because I was paid ‘hush money’ as has been reported in overseas owned tabloids. I am denying this affair because it never happened.”

Sorry, CNN. Maybe it’s time to go back to the Russia collusion narrative. Or maybe Sam Nunberg?
