The political circus underway in the confirmation of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is bringing in big numbers for cable news sites, and CNN is apparently milking it for all its worth.

Viewership peaked at about 13 million Thursday as Kavanaugh defended himself against unsubstantiated claims of high school dry humping more than three decades ago, with Fox News leading the way, followed by MSNBC and CNN, respectively, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Drudge Report shows CNN’s Chris Cuomo was the least watched of the eight top programs.

It’s not hard to see why.

Cuomo spent the evening badgering Kavanaugh’s classmate from Yale as he investigated the judge’s virginity, a cringeworthy spectacle that reeked of desperation.

“I have to tell you I don’t think it’s disqualifying to have partied in high school or in college. But him telling the truth about himself is a more relevant standard,” Cuomo preached to Kavanaugh’s former Yale classmate Lynne Brooks.

“Was Brett Kavanaugh known at Yale as a virgin?” he asked.

“I have no idea,” Brooks said.

The last place host then chided his guest for her response, and insinuated that she’s a liar.

“I just want to know because that’s something he points out about himself that I know, having gone to the same school. It’s not so big a school – It’s got a big name, but it’s not that big a community. It’s pretty small,” Cuomo said. “It’s the kind of thing that would have been known.”

Some folks online mocked Cuomo’s “Primetime” coverage, while others posted their own interactions with CNN producers looking for anything they can find on President Trump’s pick for the nation’s highest court.

Amy Dryden uploaded a message to YouTube of CNN producer Scott Bronstein desperately looking for Yale alumni willing to speak out against Kavanaugh.

“This is Scott Bronstein, I’m a producer at CNN, and we’re trying to reach out to who went to Yale in the 1980s and we think you’re in the class of ’87 and perhaps you were a resident at Pearson College and maybe knew Deborah Ramirez and Brett Kavanaugh,” the message said.

“If you could please give me a call back I’d like to talk to you about what it was like back then, and if you knew them. And we could speak on background if you’d like,” it continued. “My name is Scott Bronstein, and I’m a producer at CNN.”

Folks online were not impressed with the low-brow antics.

“@ChrisCuomo kept a list of every Yale undergrad and when they last had sex,” Nick Pappas mocked on Twitter.

“How did he get into Yale?” MFC Blake added.

“So, if you happen to be a virgin on Yale’s campus, that would be known to the student body? In what universe?” nolapatriot posted.

“Kavanaugh’s virginity is the kind of thing that would have been known. Lol! What? Why?” Amy Grove wrote. “I can’t believe we’re talking about and speculating about his virginity. Smh.”

Twitter user MauryO was more succinct: “They are so desperate.”
