A black man in Bellevue, Pennsylvania faces several criminal charges after he punched a police officer in the face and yelled “black lives matter,” police allege.

hoyBellevue police contend officer William Scheller was sitting in his patrol car in front of the suburban Pittsburgh police station last Thursday around 1:15 a.m. when he saw Domenick Hoy screaming as he ran toward the vehicle, WCVB reports.

When the Scheller rolled down his window to ask Hoy if he needed help, the 23-year-old allegedly socked the officer in the face, breaking his nose, according to TribLive.com.

The officer managed to get out of the vehicle and take Hoy down to the ground. At one point Scheller pulls out a Taser but did not use it on Hoy.

“Police said Hoy shouted ‘black lives matter’ as he was being taken into custody,” WPXI reports.

In the criminal complaint, police allege Hoy also said “It’s going to take more than two of you to take me down” as the officer and his partner hauled him into the police station.

Bellevue police expect the officer to be back on duty soon, and said Hoy had no previous conflicts with the department.

Hoy, who police said lives near the police station, was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Hoy was lodged in Allegheny County Jail on a $75,000 bail.

Bellevue Police Chief Matthew Sentner told WPXI he has zero tolerance for violence against his officers.

“An unprovoked attack on an officer can’t be tolerated by anybody,” he said. “Officer Sheller had no time in this instance. Normally he would have gotten out of the car, any officer would have gotten out of the car, and confronted the person standing up.”

The Bellevue police attack is not the first time alleged criminals have envoked the name of Black Lives Matter when acting out violence.

A decorated Iraq War vet was attacked by a group of black thugs at a Washington D.C. McDonald’s in February after the teens taunted him by repeatedly asking if he thinks black lives matter, WJLA reports.

When former U.S. Marine Christopher Marquez left the building, the group allegedly beat him senseless and stole his wallet, which contained $400 in cash, several credit cards, his VA card, student ID and other items. The thieves then racked up $115 in charges on Marquez’ credit card at a liquor store, burger joint and Walmart, according to The Daily Caller.

That attack was caught on McDonald’s security cameras, and police believe the assailants are likely the same group they’ve been looking for in connection to a previous, similar incident.

Marquez suffered from a head trauma and eye contusion, but is expected to recover.

He previously survived a particularly brutal firefight in Fallujah, Iraq known as “Hell House,” for which he was awarded a Bronze Star.
