A woman called 911 to complain about her treatment at a store, but the police zeroed in on her instead.

Austin, Texas police say Kristin Carlton robbed a Family Thrift Center during her lunch break Tuesday. When store employees pursued her, she allegedly attempted to run one down with her car, the Austin Statesman reports.

The employee allegedly stood in front of the car to obtain the license plate number when Carlton “sped forward, striking the employee,” according to KVUE. The employee was transported to the hospital but released a short time later.

She then placed two calls to 911 — to complain about how store employees treated her and another to say she was being accused of shoplifting.

Police were then able to trace the call to Carlton’s cell phone. She was arrested at her place of work. There, investigators found “her vehicle had damage consistent with hitting the victim,” the news station reports.

Carlton, 57, is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, with her car being the weapon, according to Austin police.

Police say Carlton confessed she was at the thrift store on her lunch break, and had placed the 911 calls, according to KXAN.

Travis County jail records show Carlton was being held without bond today.
