Democratic operatives are already grumbling to the media that liberal darling Jon Ossoff let them down.

MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt reported this morning that as Ossoff’s lead slipped last night — and eventually went under 50%, triggering a June runoff — she was receiving “snarky” messages from operatives who were already criticizing Ossoff’s campaign tactics.

On Wednesday’s “Morning Joe,” Hunt said, “Ossoff spent over $8 million on one House seat, almost all on broadcast television.

“A lot of people think that’s kind of an outdated way to try to win a race like this,” she continued as co-host Joe Scarborough could be heard groaning in the background.

“That’s money that could have been very well invested in party building,” Hunt said.

She said the “snarky notes” drew on the memories of Democrats pinning their hopes on select counties to report returns in past elections.

“I don’t think it’s come across that this has fixed those problems,” she said, referring to Ossoff’s strategy.

“Wow,” Mika Brzenzinski responded.

Ossoff’s disappointing lack of win is less than 24 hours old. Are Democrats turning on him already?
