Democrat 2020 presidential contender Elizabeth Warren wants to #EndTrafficViolence, and folks online are offering suggestions to make her dream a reality.

“Traffic violence kills thousands and injures even more Americans every year. On World Day of Remembrance for Traffic Crash Victims, I’m sending my live to the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones. It’s time to #EndTrafficViolence.”

According to the United Nations, there are 1.35 million road traffic deaths every year, the leading cause of death for children aged 4 to 14, as well as young adults between the ages of 15 and 29.

“The Day has become an important tool in global efforts to reduce road casualties. It offers an opportunity for drawing attention to the scale of emotional and economic devastation caused by road crashes and for giving recognition to the suffering of road crash victims and the work of support and rescue services,” the UN website reports.

The site offers some statistics to put the problem into perspective: road traffic injuries are the 8th leading cause of death, 54 percent of deaths are pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, and “every 24 seconds someone dies on the road.”

In the U.S., the roughly 40,000 people killed in car wrecks each year is about the same as the number of people who are killed by guns, which prompted some folks online to suggest radical changes in the law to put policies more in line with the Democrat hysteria surrounding gun control.

“No one needs a vehicle that travels faster than 20 mph. And large capacity cares are a problem as well,” Ride Fast tweeted in response to Warren’s #EndTrafficViolence message. “We need a waiting period, a restriction on resales, and a car buyback program. Don’t get me started on Jeeps. No one needs a car that was originally designed for war.”

“Does this make AAA a domestic terror organization?” Chris joked.

“They are,” No Highways for Jaydrivers chimed in. “For 100 years they & the rest of the car lobby have been demonizing pedestrians normally walking around their towns as ‘jaywalkers’ & demanding DOTs make it easier for motorists to kills them so they can go faster.”

“Ban all cars I guess?” Ian Miles Cheong wrote.

Some offered facts for Warren and her fellow traffic violence crusaders to consider, while other used the opportunity to troll the senator over her political pandering.

“In 2018 Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 80,730 aliens with DUI charges and convictions,” Tim Donnelly wrote.

“My great-grandfather died at age 88 when, while driving his buggy, his horse was spooked by a train and bolted. The buggy flipped, he was thrown out and broke his neck. True story,” Sheburn posted. “The lesson? Stay inside wrapped in bubble wrap. Or, live your life. I accept the risk.”
