In December 2017, when U.S. Rep. Al Green introduced a resolution laying out articles of impeachment against President Trump, 58 Democrats voted to move forward with the proposal, which was ultimately shot down 364-58.

This week, only two Democrats are willing to put their names on a similar impeachment resolution introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib – Tlaib and Green.

“Rep. Rashida Tlaib tells me and @SunlenSerfaty that she submitted her impeachment resolution to Judiciary today w/ only one other member’s name of support – Rep. Al Green, who tried to push the impeachment issue on his own before,” CNN House reporter Ashley Killough posted to Twitter Wednesday.

The weak support for impeachment follows the release of a summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report detailing a nearly two year investigation into allegations the president colluded with Russians to tilt the 2016 election.

Mueller concluded after reviewing thousands of documents and interviewing hundreds of witnesses that there is no evidence of collusion, despite a daily barrage of mainstream media reports and scores of Democrat politicians claiming otherwise.

Tlaib and Green, however, are ignoring the results of the multi-million dollar investigation and pivoting instead to allegations the president is “currently a sitting CEO working out of the Oval Office.”

“This resolution is just a first step to have an open transparent process,” Tlaib said.

“It’s there for the Judiciary committee to act upon,” Green said of the resolution to review impeachment. “And I would hope this committee would take up this resolution.”

The move fulfills Tlaib’s infamous vow to “impeach the motherf**ker” following her swearing-in ceremony in January.

Despite claims the new impeachment proposal centers on the president’s alleged business connections, Green made it clear just days ago he’s pursuing impeachment for other reasons, as well.

On Sunday, Attorney General William Barr issued a letter to Congress explaining Mueller “did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated” with Russians meddling in the 2016 election, “despite multiple offers from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign,” Fox News reports.

The same day, Green posted to Twitter: “#MuellersReport did NOT investigate bigotry emanating from the Presidency harming our country. The findings do NOT negate the President’s bigotry. As long as bigotry influences the President’s policies, I will continue to seek his impeachment. #ImpeachmentIsNotDead.”

Tlaib also quickly pivoted away from Russia after Barr’s letter to Congress, though she’s among Democrats who want to publicize Mueller’s full report.

“I think the American public deserves to make the whole report public, and let us decide,” she told TMZ.

“I was always talking about corruption and the impeachable offenses that go beyond … the Mueller report,” she claimed. “We still have this dark cloud over our country and we want to clear it up.”

Other rabid anti-Trump members of Congress have toned down impeachment talk since Barr released his summary of Mueller’s investigation.

U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, of California, who has called for impeaching Trump since he was elected, has backpedaled on the issue in recent days, most recently telling Politico Democrats should “do nothing now” as they continue to push for Mueller’s full report, The American Mirror reports.

“(Impeachment has) never been discussed as a strategy for this caucus,” she said. “It’s only a few of us.”

Apparently, it’s now down to just two.
