Hillary Clinton loves government, but apparently not enough to pay for it.

At least two Iowa police departments are speaking out against Clinton’s “deadbeat” campaign because they were stiffed after providing security for the candidate.

Departments in Des Moines and Marshalltown have produced invoices they say they sent the campaign, only to have them ignored.

WHO — which deemed the Clinton campaign a “deadbeat” — reports the Des Moines police department sent an invoice for $1,769.66 back in November that has yet to be paid.

City leaders in Marshalltown have been stiffed, as well.

“We have requested reimbursement from the Clinton campaign. We haven’t received that payment yet,” Marshalltown Police Chief Michael Tupper tells the news station.

The campaign held two events in January in Tupper’s jurisdiction, totaling $2,676.20 in overtime for officers protecting the event.

A February letter detailing the expenses and seeking reimbursement was ignored. So was one sent earlier in March.

“I think the most frustrating part is these events cost a lot of money for our communities and it’s not just law enforcement that’s impacted by these events, but they’re very costly, especially for a small town like Marshalltown with a small police force,” Tupper says.

“They distract us from the other duties of the day and we’re happy to help out, but we don’t have unlimited financial resources that can cover all these security requests.”

According to Tupper, the amount being sought from the campaign only reflects a portion of the true expense.

“That doesn’t cover the costs that I incurred with captains and lieutenants and supervisors planning the event or detectives getting ready for the event, pre-event. I just ask for my expenses in overtime for the day of the event,” he says.

Tupper says two campaigns have reimbursed the city for security: Donald Trump and Clinton’s rival Bernie Sanders.

“In my 23-year career, the Trump campaign actually paying this large bill is the first time that’s happened to me,” he tells WHO. “I’ve been doing this job for 23 years and quite honestly the Trump campaign actually reimbursing for these kinds of expenses is the first time that’s ever happened to me in my entire career, with one exception.”

That exception was the socialist Sanders.

“We have limited resources here. This money is coming out of the city of Marshalltown general fund. The taxpayers of Marshalltown are covering these expenses and we just don’t have the kind of unlimited resources that one might expect to cover these unexpected events,” Tupper says.
