A jogger running along a California road called 911 after mistaking a “screaming” goat for a human in distress.

The woman called Healdsburg emergency services at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, and “was adamant that the cries sounded like a human screaming for help,” the Press-Democrat reports.

Police arrived about 9 minutes later and he joined the jogger to try to find the source of the screaming.

At about 8:20 a.m., they found a “bleating goat” that was “crying by the side of another fallen goat” near the Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve. The area is reportedly frequented by coyotes.

The officer was still on the scene as of about 9 a.m. and it was unknown what would happen to the surviving goat.
