An Indiana public transit worker was arrested after police say they bought cocaine from him while he was in uniform on his bus.

Timothy Miles is also president of Muncie, Indiana chapter of the NAACP.

The Delaware County sheriff’s office claims its investigators have audio and video evidence showing Miles sold cocaine to a confidential informant.

“We actually made three controlled buys off Mr. Miles and all three buys were while he was working in his MITS vehicle,” according to Cpl. Jeff Stanley, Delaware County Sheriffs Drug Unit.

Miles is the assistant director of transportation for Muncie Indiana Transit Systems, where he’s worked for 20 years.

The sheriff’s office says Miles was wearing his work badge and clothing during the drug sales.

Miles insists he was just giving away the drugs, not selling them.

“I gave her the cocaine. I did not take any money, I am a user, not a dealer,” Miles said after his arrest, according to court documents.

But he did allegedly ask for “sexual favors” in exchange for the drugs. The records also indicate Miles made sales in a public park with children nearby.

“In lieu of monetary payment for the drugs he was actually requesting sexual activity or sexual favors,” Cpl. Stanley says.

Miles has been suspended from his public transit job, pending the outcome of the investigation. Policy dictates an employee is to be terminated if they are found guilty of a felony.
