A woman visiting South Carolina from New York sought to impose her apparent authoritarian values on the locals when she tore down a pair of Confederate flags and attempted to run away with them.

Lydia FolckomerThe Post Courier reports 22-year-old Lydia Folckomer, a Brooklyn resident, was made “upset” by the South Carolina Secessionist Party’s weekly display of Southern flags in Charleston.

Folckomer allegedly “broke two small Confederate flags off a parked truck and ran away with them,” according to the paper, citing a police report.

When party founder James Bessenger attempted to retrieve them, Lydia’s father, Paul Folckomer, “stepped in front of Bessenger and kept grabbing him so he couldn’t chase the young woman.”

Police intervened and arrested the duo.

He claimed he grabbed Bessenger to keep him from chasing his daughter. He was visiting from North Carolina.

Lydia Folckomer said she “grabbed the flags because they upset her,” the paper reports.

According to Electronic Urban Report, Lydia was charged with malicious injury to real property, while Paul was charged with simple assault. They spent Saturday night in jail and were released yesterday afternoon.

“The moral of the story? Make the Yankees pay for their crimes when they come to our State, break our laws and attempt to dishonor our ancestors,” the S.C. Secessionist Party posted on Facebook.

Brooklyn, New York resident Lydia Folckomer describes herself as an “Actor, Writer, Producer, Comedian” on Twitter.

In addition to the Confederate flag, she apparently doesn’t like Republicans, either, judging by this tweet comparing them to Nazis:
