Presidential candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke is staking his campaign on a promise to confiscate “assault rifles” from gun owners, and he recently stopped in Newtown, Connecticut — home of the infamous 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary massacre — to preen for the cameras.

At least one woman who attended the Newton Action Alliance’s “gun violence forum” with O’Rourke didn’t appreciate his perspective, or his attempt to use her town as a prop in his quest for the White House.

Third generation resident Rebecca Carnes didn’t hesitate to give O’Rourke a piece of her mind at the meeting, though she was quickly escorted out for disagreeing with the candidate’s government gun grab.

Carnes alleged O’Rourke came “to hijack this town and try and make an issue out of getting guns out of good people’s hands that can make a difference.

“And you know that, Beto,” Carnes shouted at the Texan.

“No, this is bullshit. It’s about mental health and it’s about this war on boys and masculinity. You’re bullshit by being here. Shame on you Beto,” Carnes yelled as a staffer attempted to intervene.

The woman ignored the man and continued to berate O’Rourke.

“C’mon, bring it on, Beto!” Carnes said. “Let me hear, what do you have to say about mental health?

“What do you have to say about urban violence?” she shouted.

“You don’t care,” Carnes said. “The Democrats have been in charge of urban communities and cities for decades. The Democrats have failed.”

Others in the audience attempted to chime in, but she persisted.

“They don’t care about you, sir,” she said to one man.

“That’s why he’s at Sandy Hook,” Carnes said. “He doesn’t care.”

“It’s bullshit,” she said. “I grew up in Newtown.”

They eventually pushed her out, but not without some parting words.

“No, you’re gonna kick out a mother in this community? I grew up here,” Carnes said. “I’m a third generation Newtown, so you can all go screw.

“Democrats are out,” she shouted. “Trump 2020 is saving the world.”

“You guys are corrupt liars, and you know it Beto,” Carnes said.

O’Rourke told WTNH he came to town “not to campaign, but to listen to the people of Newtown.”

Carnes wasn’t buying it.

“Children died in Sandy Hook and for Beto O’Rourke to come here just for political gain, and stand on the graves of these children, he comes here,” she told WTNH outside the venue. “Why is he here?”
