House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed the prospect of a Bill de Blasio run for president in 2020 — at the New York City mayor’s own press conference.

Pelosi was in New York today to go to bat for illegal aliens, and while addressing reporters, she was asked about de Blasio’s potential candidacy.

“I always say when someone is serious about running, I’ll be serious about commenting on it,” Pelosi said as de Blasio stood in the background.

Suffering a jaw problem, she continued, “And I think the mayor is serious about it but when he makes his announcement then I’ll answer your question.”

If de Blasio is running, he’s off to a rocky start.

The New York Post reported earlier this week:

Mayor Bill de Blasio’s ongoing tease of a presidential run didn’t exactly pull in the crowds during a campaign-esque event in the Granite State.

Only 20 people showed up Sunday to hear the leader of America’s largest city hold a roundtable on mental health — including the 14 people on the panel and just six in the audience.

There were also about six reporters on hand to make the room at the Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center look a bit less empty.

If de Blasio declares his candidacy, he would be the 210th Democrat to do so this election cycle.
