Conservative street artist Sabo is at it again, this time with a Los Angeles billboard poking fun at Democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s history of drunken driving.

Sabo installed the new billboard across from Rancho Park Golf Course, on the corner of Pico and Beverly Glen Boulevard Tuesday morning, transforming an existing advertisement with a crashing car into a tongue-in-cheek campaign sign.

The image includes a massive cut-out of O’Rourke running with a bottle of Jose Cuervo in hand, along with a large sombrero on his head and a Mexican style mustache. The campaign slogan “Beto Runs” is featured in the upper right corner.

Sabo told the Daily Wire he dubbed the work “Beto Runs” and it’s designed to draw attention to both O’Rourke’s use of the Hispanic nickname “Beto” to appeal to ethnic voters, and his seemingly special treatment for a 1998 drunk driving crash.

O’Rourke, the most recent Democrat to enter the 2020 presidential race, was arrested in September 1998 after he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a truck on Interstate 10. O’Rourke was charged with a DWI, but the charge was later dismissed after the then 26-year-old completed a diversion program. O’Rourke received the light sentence despite witnesses at the scene who alleged he attempted to drive away after the crash, The Houston Chronicle reports.

“I can’t help but wonder if Robert Francis (O’Rourke’s real name) ever had a hard day,” Sabo said. “He grew up having every one of his troubles fixed by family, and (then) he left mom and dad and married a billionaire. The billboard makes reference to his hit-and run DUI charges that either his uncle, a police chief, or his father, a judge, helped him skate out of.

“Beto is just another John Kerry or worse, Ted Kennedy,” Sabo said.

O’Rourke fessed up to his DWI arrest during his losing campaign to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz, but did not specifically address witness accounts that he attempted to flee.

“I drove drunk and was arrested for a DWI in 1998,” O’Rourke told the Chronicle last August. “As I’ve publicly discussed over the last 20 years, I made a serious mistake for which there is no excuse.”

Police records show O’Rourke blew a blood alcohol level of .136 on a breathalyzer following the 1998 crash.

O’Rourke announced Thursday that he’s officially running for president as a Democrat in 2020, confirming speculation that’s circulated for months. O’Rourke reportedly raised $6.1 million in his first official day in the race.

The Sabo billboard is the latest in the artist’s “Unsavory Agents” series, which features other works mocking socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, alleged hate crime hoaxer Jussie Smollett, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and other prominent politicians.

The works typically skewer hypocritical liberal policies on abortion, immigration, and other issues while depicting Republicans as “the new punk.”
