Instead of revving engines and exploding bombs, a child’s toy plays a prayer Muslims recite on their pilgrimage to Mecca.

The usual flying sound effects of a fighter jet were missing from a F-16 toy plane bought from Amazon, which shocked the family of a three-year-old boy who opened it on Christmas morning.

“We put the batteries in and didn’t get what we expected,” says Bjorn Thorpe, the boy’s uncle. “I do respect other religions, but it’s not the right situation to have it on a children’s toy.”

And the reviews of the WolVol Bump and Go Action Electric F16 Military Fighter Jet Aircraft Airplane Toy with Lights and Sounds online show that there is more than just one toy which has the technical fault.

Nadeem Israr, president of the Islamic Society of Whatcom County in Washington, says the recording is actually the prayer Muslims recite when they’re traveling to Mecca.

“This is a prayer you’re supposed to say when you’re performing Hajj,” he tells KING 5.

WolVol believes the Chinese manufacturer mistakenly added the wrong sound effect and shipped the toys.

Thorpe wants a refund.

“He just wants a plane,” he says.
