Never let a family time go to waste, according to the White House propagandists.

During his daily press briefing Monday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest urged Americans to discuss gun control over their Thanksgiving dinner.

“As people sitting around the Thanksgiving table talking about these issues as they should and I’m sure they will all across the country, I hope that’s a question that will be raised and asked by members around the table,” Earnest said, referring to a bill promoted by Democrats to ban people on the “terror watch list” from buying a gun.

Earnest makes the case at around the 54:30 mark:

“If we’re going to have a serious discussion in this country about national security, let’s talk about some pretty obvious things that Congress can do. And one obvious thing that Congress can do is pass a law that prevents somebody who’s on the terror watch list from being able to buy a weapon.”

Earnest theorized his “non-controversial” idea hasn’t been enacted because of the “fear” Republicans have of the NRA.

The Blaze notes the so-called “terror watch list” is far from perfect, reporting, “Several news organizations have reported cases of a two-year old, a Ford Motor company executive, a noted journalist and pundit and Nelson Mandela all being on the list.”

But that, of course, is not enough to quell the administration’s call for activists to inject thorny political issues in their family turkey talk. And it, of course, is not the first time, either.

In July, the Department of Health and Human Services issued the latest set of Obamacare talking points to be used in defense of President Obama’s policies during the family Independence Day barbeque.

They began:

This Fourth of July, families across the nation will gather around hot dogs (or their favorite vegetarian alternative) and potato salad to spend some quality time together, watch fireworks and reflect on the holiday’s meaning. But as much as we love our families – and we do, seriously –we don’t always agree when it comes to current events, like last week’s Supreme Court decision upholding tax credits that help make insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) more affordable for millions of people.

To the Obama community organizers in the federal government, a family picnic isn’t a time to catch up on kids’ sports, grandpa’s health scare or the cousin’s time in Iraq. Instead, it’s to promote the divisive policies of our dear leader.

“You should be prepared when Aunt Janine says something like, ‘Obamacare hasn’t helped anyone!’” they read. The feds then – conveniently – offered a number of scenarios and how every patriotic American, who is more interested in defending Obama than hearing about a family success, should respond, such as.

Situation: Uncle Ted claims Obamacare is a train wreck and has cost jobs.

You say: Uncle Ted, you’ve gotten ahold of some old talking points. With greater access to affordable, quality health insurance, the Affordable Care Act is helping individuals and strengthening our economy!

Yes, the feds are really telling us what to say, because no family time is sacred or off limits to the propagandists pushing an agenda.
