The president of the United States apparently has no opinion about whether the near-record low rates of home ownership are good or bad for America.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest was asked twice today if the president had any opinion about the new stats and he dodged the question — twice.

Rates are at 48-year lows, one reporter asked. “Does the president view that in a positive light … or a net negative?”

“I haven’t seen those latest statistics,” Earnest responded, before shifting the focus to rising home prices.

The reporter pressed, “But does the president think lower home ownership rates in general is a good thing or not a good thing?”

“Obviously families themselves need to make these decisions,” Earnest responded. “I just can’t give you a specific analysis of the numbers because I haven’t seen them.”

MarketWatch reports home ownership rates fell to 63.6% in the first quarter of 2016.
