The cost of the often violent Black Lives Matter protests isn’t just physical and emotional.

Phoenix police rocksThe city of Phoenix now realizes it’s financial, too.

Councilman Sal DiCiccio isn’t happy that two protests held by the race agitators cost the city $247,996 in extra police costs, he says in a news release.

“This shows a complete disrespect for the taxpayer and our great police department. This disrespect can easily be added up,” DiCiccio says.

“Add up the loss of taxpayer monies, the cost to local small business owners, the waste of limited police resources, and the fact that the protestors refused to change the date of their protest as it occurred the day after we lost those brave police heroes in Dallas.”

DiCiccio released data from the Phoenix Police Department showing the July 8th protest cost $123,341 in extra on-duty and overtime hours, while the July 15th protest cost another $124,655.

The protests on the 8th were particularly violent.

That was where agitators were threatening to kill officers by chanting, “We should shoot you.”

DiCiccio notes the police cost doesn’t include lost revenue from businesses that closed early over fear of violence.

“To be clear, I am a fierce proponent of free speech and people’s right to protest, but the way the protestors exercised their rights squandered critical resources away from the serial killer investigation and our community,” DiCiccio says.
