Huma Abedin, the longtime aide to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, will host a high-fashion fundraiser for her boss tonight at a Georgetown mansion.

humaandweinerAbedin has been absent from Clinton’s side since the FBI announced last week it’s reopening an investigation into the former first lady’s emails amid new evidence gleaned in a separate investigation of Abedin’s randy husband, former congressman Anthony Weiner, for sending sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl.

But Bloomberg reports the 40-year-old, who has been at Hillary Clinton’s side since she was hired as an aide during Bill Clinton’s presidency, will expected to host a star-studded, high-fashion fundraiser at the home of Jefferson Hotel owner Connie Milstein.

Abedin will headline the event with fashion icons Anna Wintour and Diane Von Furstenberg, though Hillary Clinton herself is not expected to attend, according to the news site.

“Huma is beautiful, brilliant, and chic in the eyes of everyone who has worked with her,” Wintour said in a prepared statement provided by the Clinton campaign. “Secretary Clinton has benefited from her support and wisdom for twenty years.”

Milstein is a longtime Democratic donor, and Wintour, the editor of Vogue magazine, designed a “Made for History” t-shirt collection for the Clinton campaign, Breitbart reports.

“In September, von Furstenburg and her husband, billionaire IAC chairman Barry Diller, were set to host a $100,000 per couple fundraiser for Clinton at their Beverly Hills home,” according to the news site. “Clinton canceled her appearance at the fundraiser after falling ill with pneumonia.”

FBI Director James Comey announced last Friday that the agency is reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server after receiving new evidence in its investigation of disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner for allegedly exchanging sexual messages with an underage girl.

Weiner’s FBI investigation marks the third time he was caught in sexual conversations with woman online while married to Abedin, who separated from Weiner after the last discovery was publicized this summer.

Weiner and Abedin wed in 2010 in a ceremony officiated by Bill Clinton, and Weiner was forced to resign his House seat in 2011 after he accidentally tweeted a picture of himself he meant to send to someone else.

Weiner, who went by Carlos Danger online, was caught again in a sexting scandal when he ran for New York City mayor in 2013, which forced him out of the race.

Comey previously declined to prosecute Clinton for using an unsecured private email server for classified information while working for the Obama administration.

According to Politifact:

… (U)nnamed FBI officials told journalists that the new focus began when the FBI found emails on a laptop seized from former New York congressman Anthony Weiner, who is under investigation for allegedly exchanging sexually explicit messages with a 15-year-old girl. Weiner is separated from Huma Abedin, a longtime aide to Clinton.

Investigators found a total of 650,000 emails on Weiner’s laptop, anonymous sources told the Wall Street Journal. But it remains to be seen how many of those emails involve Clinton, how many are work-related, how many are duplicates of emails already reviewed by the FBI and whether they contain classified information.

The Journal goes on to say that “thousands” could have been sent to or from Clinton’s email server. The Washington Post reported that there are more than 1,000 from the server (though it’s unclear if that refers to the number of threads or individual emails).
