Donald Trump’s administration is now going to pursue prosecution of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, but during the campaign, the candidate couldn’t get enough of Assange’s work.
“This just came out. Wikileaks! I love Wikileaks!” Trump told a rally holding up a piece of paper on October 10, 2016 — less than one month before the election.

But that love affair may have been for convenience, as Trump’s Department of Justice is now seeking to punish Assange.
Asked at a press conference in San Antonio whether the DOJ was going to pursue Assange, Attorney General Jeff Sessions responded, “We are going to step up our effort and already are stepping up our efforts on all leaks. This is a matter that’s gone beyond anything I’m aware of,” according to The Guardian.
“We have professionals that have been in the security business of the United States for many years that are shocked by the number of leaks and some of them are quite serious.”
Sessions said the arrest of Assange is a “priority.”
