A network that spends 24 hours a day speculating and naval gazing doesn’t want to hear any theories about how the Notre Dame fire started today.

Host Shepard Smith — who has made it a habit of dismissing concerns about the migrant caravans — had on Philippe Karsenty, whom Smith identified as a “French elected official.”

“The church was there 850 years,” Karsenty said just moments into the phone appearance.

“Even the Nazis didn’t dare to destroy it,” he said. “And you need to know for the past year we’ve had churches desecrated each and every week all over France.

“So of course you will hear the story about the political correctness that will probably tell you it was an accident,” he said before Smith jumped in.

“Sir, sir sir,” he said sternly, “we’re not going to speculate here of the cause of something of which we do not know.”

“If you know something, we’d love to hear it,” Smith said.

“I’m just telling you something, we need to be ready,” Karsenty continued before Smith cut him off again, saying “We’re not doing that here. Not now, not on my watch.”

Smith then dispatched his guest.

But Summit News reports workers on the scene said it was “deliberately” started:

…TIME columnist Christopher J. Hale tweeted, “A Jesuit friend in Paris who works in #NotreDame told me cathedral staff said the fire was intentionally set.”

According to Summit, Hale deleted his tweet.

So for all the speculating that goes on at the Fox News Channel, viewers couldn’t hear from an elected official who thinks it wasn’t an accident that a previous target of Islamists went up in flames during Holy Week?
