Mad Maxine Waters is not in the Christmas spirit.
During an interview Sunday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” the California Democrat said “we need to get rid” of President Donald Trump over reports that he is reportedly considering firing Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
“We must understand that the Fed does not work for the president of the United States. The Fed creates monetary policy based on what’s good for the economy and, of course, I may disagree from time to time with their decisions but we must not interfere,” Waters claimed.
“They must be independent. Right now Powell is saying that they’re dealing with inflation, but they don’t work for the president. The president can’t fire them. All that the president can do when he opens his mouth is rattle the markets. As a matter of fact, the volatility that you see in the markets is caused by the kinds of statements that this president will make causing more uncertainty,” she continued.
Waters spent most of the time making it all about Trump and why she believes he should be removed from office rather than offering an argument against why the president may want to fire Powell.
“I’m not surprised that the president is doing this because I’m not surprised at anything that the president may do or say. I have warned America from the beginning that this president is not worthy, he cannot be trusted, he’s a liar, He’s despicable,” she spouted, getting animated with her facial expressions.
“Any time he steps in, opens his mouth, tries to interfere with one of our agencies I’m not shocked but the American people continue to be shocked. The Republicans are intimidated and not standing by their responsibility for oversight and dealing with this president. We need to get rid of this president,” she concluded.
For the first seven years of Obama’s presidency, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates zero times — it remained at zero percent in that time frame.
Since Trump took office almost two years ago, the Fed has raised interest rates eight times.
The president is reportedly considering firing Powell because raising the rates so often has arguably resulted in the markets slipping and billions of dollars in economic revenue being slashed.
While Waters was smearing Trump with every name she think of, host Joy Reid — who was busted for writing and allowing homophobic content on her personal website — never once asked the lawmaker about her actions and behaviors creating divisions in the country.
A few weeks ago, Waters claimed Republicans fears “strong, black” women like her and said Trump should “keep his mouth shut.”
“The president of the United States attempts to talk about things that he has no knowledge of. He doesn’t even understand what goes into fighting a fire, and for him to come out talking about poor management is just another indication that the president is not willing to learn anything. He does not really care about others, and he’s on the attack all of the time. We wish he would keep his mouth shut. California does not need him to be talking about things that he does not know,” Waters said, visibly getting angry.
Prior to that, she told claimed that she’s on a mission from God to hold Trump accountable.
Just hours before the midterm elections last month, the California Democrat told a voter in Harbor City, California, that Democrats will “get” Trump in 2020.
“We’re dealing with a lot,” Waters said, playing up the theatrics.
“We’ve never seen the likes of what’s going on in this country with this man,” she said, referring to Trump. “It is absolutely sickening. And so, if we’re strong in the midterm, we can get him out in 2020.”
She added: “You know, I want him impeached if I can just get them to follow me.”
Waters claims Trump isn’t doing enough to help the country, but then tells him to “keep his mouth shut” when he calls for bipartisan solutions.
