For all of her posturing against the insider political machine and for transparency, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seems to be adapting to the D.C. swamp just fine.

Luke Thompson posted a screen shot of a profile of Riley Roberts, alleging the Congresswoman added Riley to her staff.

The tweet now appears to be hidden.

The listing shows Roberts has a House email address, reserved for employees.

The phone number listed — (202) 225-3965 — goes to Cortez’s office. His location is listed as “NY14” — Cortez’s congressional district.

Widespread reports and profiles of Cortez indicate Roberts is Cortez’s boyfriend.

Thompson notes Roberts was in a photo of Cortez’s swearing in back in January:

House ethics rules bar members from hiring any “relative,” and lists those as “an individual who is related to the public official as father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, or half sister.”

It doesn’t include boyfriends or significant others.

Extra pay from taxpayers may help to explain why Cortez is now living in a fancy new D.C. apartment.

The Free Beacon reported:

After fretting about whether she’d be able to afford rent, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) has moved into a luxury apartment building in the District of Columbia’s Navy Yard neighborhood, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, got a big raise with her election to Congress, a job that comes with a $174,000 annual salary. She told the New York Times she was concerned about how she would get an apartment before that salary kicked in.

She ended up moving into a luxury apartment building with a wide array of amenities where rent for even a studio apartment exceeds $2,000 a month. The Washington Free Beacon is not disclosing the exact building Ocasio-Cortez lives in due to safety concerns expressed by her office.

Her office pushed back against the notion that it was hypocritical for Ocasio-Cortez, who has made housing affordability one of her top policy concerns, to move into a luxury building. A spokesman pointed out that her office also uses a car with an “internal combustion engine that runs on fossil fuels,” even though she thinks their use should be eliminated.

Cortez’s new Navy Yard digs is “one of the coolest neighborhoods in the world,” the Free Beacon notes.

UPDATE:

Ocasio-Cortez disputed Thompson’s information, claiming “spouses” get this sort of access all the time:

Roberts isn’t her spouse.
