Democrat presidential candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke denies that America has a crisis at the border, and he claims it’s all a plot to seize land from ranchers and other landowners neighboring Mexico.

At a campaign stop in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Thursday, O’Rourke flailed his hands wildly as he shared his take on the thousands of illegal immigrants illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border every month, many of them convicted criminals and gang members.

“We do not need any walls – $30 billion, 2,000 miles long, 30 feet high. It will not be built on the international boundary line, which is the centerline of the Rio Grande River. That wall will be built well into the interior, on someone’s ranch, someone else’s farm, someone else’s home,” O’Rourke preached.

“You and I will be forced to take their property to solve a problem we do not have.”

Statistics from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection clearly dispute O’Rourke’s assessment. Not only are tens of thousands of illegal immigrants apprehended at the border every month, the arrests appear to be on the rise.

USBP apprehended over 110,000 people in January and February alone, including more than 10,000 unaccompanied minors, a pace that’s overwhelming the country’s immigration facilities. Early Tuesday morning, USBP arrested 430 migrants sneaking into the country in just five minutes – in O’Rourke’s hometown of El Paso. More than 200 waltzed right into the downtown area.

Those are the folks who are caught. Countless others simply cross without issue, some carrying heavy loads of cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and other drugs. Some bring young girls with them to exploit as sex slaves. The USBP offers examples of drug and human trafficking in media releases virtually every day.

There’s smugglers ramming vehicles through weak border barriers, famished and dehydrated migrants dying from their journey, women and children raped by smugglers, and the countless “angel families” left to mourn relatives killed by criminal illegal immigrants who’ve been repeatedly deported from the country.

“These are the families the media ignores,” Trump said last summer as he met with dozens of parents whose children were killed, according to NPR. “These are the stories that Democrats and people that are weak on immigration, they don’t want to discuss, they don’t want to hear, they don’t want to see, they don’t want to talk about.”

In New Hampshire, where O’Rourke was preaching to his fellow Democrats, Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested numerous criminals last fall for re-entering the U.S. after they were deported. During September raids in New Hampshire , Massachusetts and Rhode Island, ICE rounded up illegal immigrants with previous convictions for sexual exploitation of a minor, aggravated assault, cocaine sales, marijuana sales, domestic violence, impaired driving, weapons possession, molestation of a minor, heroin sales, burglary and extortion, the Union-Leader reports.

Some of the illegal immigrants arrested were released from local jails despite requests from ICE to hold the criminals, a key element of sanctuary protections supported by O’Rourke and other open border supporters.
