Former Ambassador Peter Secchia is the quintessential Republican insider: He was friends with Gerald R. Ford and Dick Cheney, he was ambassador to Italy under George H.W. Bush and a fundraiser for George W. Bush, John McCain and Mitt Romney.

But today, he called on Republicans to put up or “shut up” and support Donald Trump.

Secchia ripped into George W. Bush and Romney at a Trump rally today in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Here’s video, courtesy of Right Side Broadcasting:

Secchia told the crowd about the group of Republicans that wanted to strip Trump of the party nomination at the summer convention.

“I had to speak to the delegation and say ‘grow up, get an attack of common sense,'” he said to cheers.

He praised Trump’s supporters for being “teachers” to the party.

“I thank you for waking up American,” Secchia continued, “and America is awakening.”

Secchia predicted many of the thousands of people at the Grand Rapids rally would suddenly have new friends on November 9th when Trump wins on Election Day.

The former ambassador also had a blunt message for his establishment friends.

“I have a message for the Bushes, I have a message for Mitt Romney, I have a message for a lot of people who changed their mind: If you don’t want to support Trump, then shut up!

“Who wants to hear from someone who didn’t know where they were supposed to be in the beginning and don’t know where they’re supposed to be today,” Secchia said.

“Because if you don’t know today that you’re supposed to be with Donald J. Trump, you are a loser,” he said to wild applause.
