A CNN reporter had a moment of honesty on air that is sure to displease ratings-chasing executives.

Maeve Reston, a National Political Reporter for the cable news network, appeared this morning and said as she talks to voters in battleground states, no one is talking about the alleged Russian influence on the 2016 election or Robert Mueller’s investigation.

After saying voters don’t feel like the economy is going to turn negative — as many did in 2016 — she said, “I’m so interested to see how the Russia investigation affects things because so far, out in these districts when you talk to people about Russia — and that’s all we talk about at CNN, basically — they say they don’t care. It doesn’t have any effect on their lives.”

Last summer, Project Veritas caught CNN employees admitting the network covers the topic so much for ratings.

The Federalist reported:

In a new undercover video, a CNN producer is caught on tape admitting that CNN’s obsessions with Donald Trump and Russia are due to chasing ratings from their liberal audience.

“Why is CNN constantly like ‘Russia this, Russia that?’” an unnamed Project Veritas reporter asks John Bonifield, CNN supervising producer, in a video that appears to have been filmed covertly.

“Because it’s ratings,” Bonifield said. “Our ratings are incredible right now.”

Bonifield said CNN CEO Jeff Zucker told his staff to get back to the Russia collusion story after they covered Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord for two days, and implied that this decision was driven by ratings.

“All the nice cutesey ethics that used to get talked about in journalism school, you’re like: ‘That’s adorable,’” he said. “This is a business.”
