According to the Department of Homeland Security, terror threats have reached an all-time high with radical Islamists inside the U.S. plotting attacks “each and every single day.”

DHS Secretary John Kelly says the FBI has open investigations into radical Muslim terrorists in all 50 states and that there have been at least 37 “ISIS-linked plots to attack our country” since 2013 alone.

On Tuesday, Secretary Kelly said the threats are “relentless” and that terrorists are exploiting America’s national security weaknesses such as our wide-open borders in order to enter the U.S.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

“We don’t know their intentions,” Kelly said during an address at George Washington University. “We don’t know why they’re here or why they’re coming. We are completely blind to what they’re capable of.”

Terrorist also continues to sprout inside American communities across the country, according to Kelly, who said that in just the past year, there have been “36 homegrown terrorist cases in 18 states.”

“We’ve seen an unprecedented spike in homegrown terrorism,” Kelly disclosed. “These are the cases we know about—homegrown terrorism is notoriously difficult to predict and control.”

Kelly explained that terrorists are attempting to attack the U.S. every single day. “I tell you, without exaggeration, they try to carry out this mission each and every single day and no one can tell you how to stop it. No one.”

He then said the U.S. is not only under constant threat from Islamic radicals, but also “failed states, cyber-terrorists, and vicious smugglers.”

“We are under attack every single day, the threats are relentless,” Kelly said.

He went on to point out that those who come over the border illegally pose a significant threat to the country because we have no way of vetting that person or even knowing who they are.

“We don’t get to vet them. We don’t know their intentions. We don’t know they’re here. They slip into our country unnoticed, living among us, and we are completely blind as to what they are capable of.”

Kelly said it gets much worse, explaining that it is not only foreign-born terrorists we have to worry about, but also radical Islamists born in the U.S. who travel to the Middle East and return to America with experience in terrorism. “Experts estimate that perhaps 10,000 citizens of Europe have joined the caliphate in Syria and Iraq. Thousands more are from nations in Asia, Africa and the Western Hemisphere. They have learned how to make IEDs, employ drones to drop ordnance, and acquired experience on the battlefield that by all reports they are bringing back home.”

Kelly went on to say that many of the terror-tied individuals are actually citizens of countries in our Visa Waiver Program, and he said “they can more easily travel to the United States which makes us a prime target for their exported violence.”

Kelly underlined America’s inability to properly vet these individuals when they attempt to enter the U.S. and said we must fix these vetting procedures and secure our borders in order to keep terrorists out of our country.
