Sen. Kamala Harris was like a deer in the headlights when asked about if she stands by her tweet defending disgraced actor Jussie Smollett.

While campaigning in New Hampshire, Harris was speechless as she was confronted by a reporter as Smollett’s story seems to be disintegrating.

As the reporter asked Harris about the tweet claiming the incident was a “modern day lynching,” the candidate looked to her left, and appeared to startle the reporter standing next to her who wasn’t about to bail her out.

“Sorry,” she said with an awkward chuckle and a large grin.

“Jussie Smollett,” the reporter continued.

“Um…” she said, raising her eyebrows and trailing off.

“I, I… okay, so, I will say this about that case: I think that the facts are still unfolding, and, um, I’m very, um, concerned…” she said.

Two weeks ago, Harris took to social media to wring her hands about the alleged attack and condemn the perpetrators.

“This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin,” Harris wrote.

“We must confront this hate.”

But when she was confronted by the media, she had nothing to say.

Unlike House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Harris — at least for now — seems to be standing by the post.
