The Duke would have loved The Donald, John Wayne’s daughter says.

John WayneAissa Wayne recently wrote a letter to Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, which the candidate posted Wednesday on his Facebook page.

“Mr. Trump has visited the birthplace of John Wayne (my dad) in Iowa recently,” she writes. “My dad, I’m sure, would be very proud of Mr. Trump and the goal to Make America Great Again! I want to thank Mr. Trump for the tireless work he is doing for this country.

“The average American citizen is mad as hell that our country is being sold down the river. Mr. Trump has finally given the people of America a voice for which I am so grateful,” Wayne writes.

“Please know that I am in your corner, and I am certain that my dad would have been a big supporter of Mr. Trump. If there is anything I can do to assist in the campaign, I am humbly at your service.”

She ends, “Keep up the good fight!!”

Trump posted the letter on Facebook with the caption, “A lovely letter from the daughter of the late great John Wayne. Our country could use a John Wayne right now.”

Wayne was a Republican and close friends with President Ronald Reagan.

“During Reagan’s campaign for and eventual time serving as California’s 33rd governor, Wayne was a heavily relied upon supporter,” Rare.us reported in 2014.

“So what’s this empty nonsense about Ronald Reagan just being an actor? I’ve watched Ronald work his entire adult life preparing for public service. His will be a new, informed, vigorously dedicated leadership,” Wayne said in a 1966 campaign ad, according to Rare.

Wayne died of stomach cancer in 1979. He was born in Winterset, Iowa in 1907.

Trump recently received praise from another star of western films: Clint Eastwood.

“I think people are looking for somebody who is outspoken and who isn’t afraid. And he seems to have kind of a fearless attitude,” Eastwood said of Trump recently, Breitbart reports.

“Anyone of them would be better than what we got,” referring to the other candidates.

The campaign posted this video Wednesday:

Thank you Clint!
