Maxine Waters played the victim on Friday night after The American Mirror reported on Thursday that the California congresswoman would be making an appearance in the early presidential primary state of New Hampshire on Sunday.

The story was the headline for several hours on the Drudge Report, and Tucker Carlson devoted a segment to the topic that evening.

Waters hit back on Friday night, lumping all three together, along with the others who covered it, and slamming “these people” for the story.

“Just because I’m going to New Hampshire to be at a Democratic Party event for one of my colleagues, they made this story up,” Waters told Joy Reid.

“They’re trying every way they can to discredit me, or to make people uncomfortable with me, all of that. So you’re gonna be hearing a lot more from them these people who are all, you know, aligned around trying to discredit Maxine Waters because she has stayed on Trump’s case so much,” she said.

“And so you’re going to hear a lot more from them. Don’t believe anything they’re saying.”

It’s not clear how talking about her visit would “discredit” her.

On Thursday, The American Mirror reported that Waters would be appearing in the Granite State.

“According to an invitation, obtained by WMUR from Democratic sources, Waters will be in the state on July 23 for the picnic to be held at the Miller Farm in New Durham,” WMUR reports, where she will hobnob with the Strafford County Democratic Committee.

We will provide coverage of her appearance.
