Rep. Maxine Waters, who has criticized President Donald Trump and Republicans for their “rhetoric,” has been cranking up her tone since Democrats won the U.S. House of Representatives last week.

During an interview on Sunday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” the California Democrat claimed that the Republican Party fears “strong, black” women like her. She also said she wishes Trump would “keep his mouth shut” about the issues plaguing her home state.

Waters, who will likely become the chair of the Financial Services Committee when Democrats take over the House in January, claimed that the president and GOP fear her because she’s a “strong, black woman.”

“That’s the opposition talking about what would happen if this strong, black woman Maxine Waters is the chair of the Financial Services Committee,” Waters said, becoming animated.

She added: “They’ve never seen anybody like me before. There’s never been a woman in the history of this country that’s been the chairperson of the Financial Services Committee, and certainly never a black woman.”

Later in the segment, the anti-Trump lawmaker was asked by host Joy Reid about a tweet from Trump. The president took issue with California receiving billions of dollars every year from the federal government and not being able to effectively combat the deadly fires that have scorched across the state.

California is currently dealing with a massive wildfire in the northern region, which has displaced many and reportedly killed roughly two dozen people.

Rather than offer any policies or ideas to refute Trump’s criticisms, Waters said the president was clueless, unwilling to learn anything, and wished he would just “keep his mouth shut” about California.

“The president of the United States attempts to talk about things that he has no knowledge of. He doesn’t even understand what goes into fighting a fire, and for him to come out talking about poor management is just another indication that the president is not willing to learn anything. He does not really care about others, and he’s on the attack all of the time. We wish he would keep his mouth shut. California does not need him to be talking about things that he does not know,” Waters said, visibly getting angry.

“We need him to bring people together, to be concerned about the safety of our families. So, again, it’s just another Trump who is again reaching in, talking about things that he doesn’t understand, and we need him to just stay away from us,” she added, with no push back at all from Reid on her comments.

Of course, this is hardly the first time Waters has made controversial comments about Trump.

Last week, Waters told attendees at the City of Refuge church in Los Angeles that God is on her side when discussing the hoax mail bombs that were sent to her.

“Now bishop, they should know better than to mess with me,” she said, undoubtedly referring to her critics. “You cannot touch a child of God!”

Waters used a similar line over the summer, where she claimed that she’s on a mission from God to hold Trump accountable.

Just hours before the midterm elections last Tuesday, the California Democrat told a voter in Harbor City, California, that Democrats will “get” Trump in 2020.

“We’re dealing with a lot,” Waters said, playing up the theatrics.

“We’ve never seen the likes of what’s going on in this country with this man,” she said, referring to Trump. “It is absolutely sickening. And so, if we’re strong in the midterm, we can get him out in 2020.”

She added: “You know, I want him impeached if I can just get them to follow me.”

Waters, who claims Trump isn’t doing enough to help the country, is wishing the president of the United States “keep his mouth shut” on issues plaguing the nation.
