In a stunning bit of irony — and seemingly calling herself irresponsible — Rep. Maxine Waters said Democrats are being “terribly responsible” by not talking about the possible impeachment of President Trump.

Yes, the woman who can’t stop talking about impeaching the president without a shred of evidence, is complimenting her colleagues for NOT discussing it.

Appearing on MSNBC on Tuesday, Waters was asked if her 1998 condemnation of the Republicans’ impeachment of then-President Bill Clinton over partisanship is really any different than her attacks on the current president.

“I want to tell you that the Democrats have been very very responsible and eve saying to me that I should not be calling for impeachment, let the investigation go on, let (Special Counsel Robert) Mueller connect these dots, and they have not taken a position as a Democratic caucus on this impeachment,” Waters told Ari Melber.

“And they said to me let’s just talk about our issues, let’s not talk about him, this just emboldens the Republicans who say the only reason you would want impeachment is because you don’t like him and you lost the election,” she said.

“And so Democrats have been terribly responsible and again, I’m one of just a few who have insisted that he’s unworthy, that he’s deplorable, that he’s despicable and should be impeached,” Waters declared with an ironic smile.

But Waters has apparently been terribly irresponsible for months by calling for Trump’s impeachment, despite the ongoing investigation and a lack of evidence.

She has called for Trump’s ouster at nearly every opportunity.

“Donald Trump is an embarrassment and a national disgrace,” she huffed in a January statement. “Members of Congress have a responsibility to the American people and our democracy to impeach him,” she said, citing “name-calling” and “the disrespect of women” as two reasons why.

She concluded, “Congress has a constitutional responsibility to impeach him without delay.”

Insulting a country, which he denies, is just the latest flimsy reason Waters is offering to impeach Trump. She called for impeaching for name-calling in November.

When asked what she hopes to achieve with her frequent “Impeach 45” chants around the country, Waters responded, “I have learned over the years that I’ve been in this business that there a few people who are willing to speak truth to power and to talk about what really is bothering our society and our democracy.

“It is not thought well of to step outside of that box,” Waters said on Bloomberg TV.

“When I talk about impeachment, I describe what I think about this president. I think he’s deplorable and I think he defined himself in the campaign the way that he mocked and mimicked a disabled journalist, the way he talked about grabbing women by their private parts,” she said.

“The way he called names of his peers, etc., etc.,” Waters told Bloomberg, apparently referring to his Republican primary opponents.

“I think that’s unacceptable, and for people to allow this kind of behavior to be normalized is beyond what I believe our democracy should be all about, and so I encourage people and I inspire people and I show people that you don’t have to be intimidated. You don’t have to be afraid and you don’t have to be traditional,” she said.

“You need to step outside of the box and tell it like it is. That’s what I do.

“Everywhere I go, I say, ‘Impeach 45.'”

She added Trump should be impeached because “there’s a belief that there has been collusion” with Russia.

“It’s all there,” she insisted.

As ABC notes, “When it comes to impeachment, the Constitution lists ‘treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors,’ as justification for the proceedings…”
