California Congresswoman Maxine Waters attempted to revive a debunked memo today during an appearance on MSNBC.

Water said she welcomes the appearance of a former British spy who allegedly authored the memo that was breathlessly published by BuzzFeed in January.

Newsweek detailed the original allegations:

…Russian security agents watched Trump engaging in “perverted sexual acts” that were “arranged/monitored by the FSB,” the Kremlin’s leading spy agency. The FSB, it said, “employed a number of  prostitutes to perform a golden showers (urination) show in front of him.” Not only that, according to the report’s anonymous Russian sources, Trump deliberately chose for his escapade “the Ritz Carlton hotel, where he knew President and Mrs. Obama (whom he hated) had stayed on one of their official trips to Russia and defiling the bed where they had slept.

“I think it should be taken a look at,” Water said.

“I think they should really read it, understand it, analyze it and determine what’s fact, what may not be fact,” she said.

“We already know the part about the coverage that they have on him with sex actions is supposed to be true. They’ve said that that is absolutely true,” Waters said.

She added an investigation should “go into that dossier and see what’s there.”

Waters went on to contradict her own statement by saying an investigation must be done to “get the facts.”

Earlier in the segment, she said once Democrats can tie Trump to Russia, he “will be eligible for impeachment.”

The author of the memo, former MI6 agent Christopher Steele, resurfaced on Tuesday.

“I’m really pleased to be back here working again at the Orbis’s offices in London today,” he said, according to Heat Street.

“I’m now going to be focusing my efforts on supporting the broader interests of our company here. I’d like to say a warm thank you to everyone who sent me kind messages and support over the last few weeks.”

Democrats are seeking his participation in their investigation of Trump.
