UPDATE July 21: The petition has now amassed 100,000 signatures — the amount required to force a White House response.

California Congresswoman Maxine Waters should be expelled from Congress, according to a petition on We the People, a website created by the Obama administration that prompts a response from the White House when at least 100,000 sign onto a request.

On Wednesday, the “Expulsion For Maxine Waters – Remove Her From Congress” petition had gathered more than 90,000 signatures of support.

“It’s time for Maxine Waters to go,” the petition reads.

“Waters has crossed a dangerous line, calling for attacks and violence against all Trump officials,” it continues, referring to comments Waters made at a June immigration rally calling on her followers to harass Trump cabinet members.

“What Waters said, when she called on Americans to ‘push back’ against Trump officials, and make it impossible for them to shop, eat out, or go to gas stations, is one of the most irresponsible statements anyone could have said, let alone a so-called Democrat leader,” according to the petition, created by “A.M.”

“It is especially dangerous to call for public attacks at a time in our country when liberals are so wildly unhinged and violent, have no control over their emotions and are brainwashed by fake news and hoodwinked by lying, sleazy politicians like Maxine Waters,” the petition continued.

“Under the circumstances, censure is not enough for Maxine Waters. Waters should face expulsion for what she’s done.”

The site is designed to allow Americans “to take action on the issues that matter” by creating a petition to gather signatures, and if the petition reaches 100,000 signatures within 30 days, it receives “an official update from the White House within 60 days.”

The petition to expel Maxine Waters from the House needs just over 9,000 more signatures by July 25, 2018 to meet the criteria.

Tom Fitton, president of the conservative Judicial Watch government watchdog group, was among the first to suggest Congress act to remove Waters for pushing “mob violence.”

“They should consider expelling her for this type of activity,” Fitton told Fox News. “If they’re not pressed by voters, they do nothing.”

The We the People petition is prefaced with “We the people ask the federal government to call on Congress to act on an issue.”

“The House has to decide whether to allow its members to use the House as a platform, and its power and position, to attack and incite violence against Trump cabinet members,” Fitton said. “Look, she’s telling people to get a crowd together, confront Trump cabinet members as they’re getting basic necessities for life, tell them they’re not welcome, push back. That’s the very definition of mob violence.”

Judicial Watch submitted a letter to the House Office of Congressional Ethics in June to request an investigation into whether Waters violated House rules with her divisive comments, the Washington Examiner reports.

In the weeks following Waters’ call to harass, numerous Trump administration officials and conservative lawmakers have been accosted in public and at their homes, including Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, Sen. Rand Paul, Former EPA chief Scott Pruitt, and others, according to IJR.
