The life of a popular Oklahoma City sports broadcaster was cut short when an individual suspected of being in the United States illegally hit him with his car.

Police say Bob Barry, Jr. was driving his motorcycle in the left lane on an Oklahoma City street and 26-year-old Gustavo Castillo-Gutierrez was in the right lane.

Suddenly, Castillo-Gutierrez made an “illegal U-turn” in front of Barry, causing the KFOR sportcaster to collide with his car.

The news station reports Barry, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown 20 feet.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Castillo-Gutierrez refused treatment but was taken to a hospital for a blood test. Officers found “a packet of white powder in his wallet that tested positive for cocaine,” News 9 reports.

According to the judge’s office, Castillo-Gutierrez has an “immigration hold,” which means he’s suspected of being in the country illegally.

Police found a Mexican ID card on him.

He is being held on $18,500 bond.

He was arrested on multiple charges, including first-degree manslaughter, drug possession, making an illegal U-turn, and driving without a license.

Barry’s funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Crossings Community Church.
