With the 2020 presidential election right around the corner, former Vice President Joe Biden is not feeling the love from his former boss.
According to Politico, Biden has grown frustrated that former President Barack Obama has been playing “footsie” with other potential Democratic candidates considering a 2020 run.
The former president met with Biden in June, but has met with at least nine other prospective Democrats in the past few months.
Obama has held “interviews,” so to speak, with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, defeated Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
Obama also notably met with Democratic Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who then publicly revealed a week later that he was considering a presidential run.
Biden has not yet officially announced that he will run for president, but claimed earlier this month that he believes he’s the “most qualified person” to take on President Donald Trump.
“I’ll be as straight with you as I can. I think I’m the most qualified person in the country to be president. The issues that we face as a country today are the issues that have been in my wheelhouse, that I’ve worked on my whole life,” Biden said at the time.
Sources reportedly told Politico that Biden is upset that his former boss is meeting with so many other potential candidates.
While Biden isn’t happy about not getting the full support of Obama, a recent poll reveals that voters also aren’t too thrilled with the potential 2020 Democratic field.
According to a poll by Hill.TV, “none of the above” is one of the most popular choices for Democratic voters when asked who they would like to see challenge Trump in 2020.
Other notable names made the poll were Joe Biden, twice failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and Sens. Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, and Kamala Harris.
“Thirty percent of the sample said they would prefer that ‘none of the above’ become the Democratic nominee,” the report found.
Overall, Biden came in second with 25 percent, followed by Sanders with 18 percent, and Clinton with 12 percent.
Booker, Harris, and Warren all registered in low single digits.
Should Biden decide to run, it wouldn’t be hard for his potential competitors to use some of his previous comments against him — especially Trump.
Last month, Biden appeared to encourage a union president to use physical violence against North Dakota Republican Sen.-elect Kevin Cramer.
Biden, who recently said kindergarten girls are “too young to resit,” has also threatened to physically assault Trump.
Earlier this year, Biden himself said he wanted to beat up Trump.
“If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him,” Biden said.
