A Christmas play turned violent when a husband, wife and the man’s girlfriend duked it out in the church.

WSAZ reports Prestonsburg, Kentucky police were dispatched to Trimble Chapel Church on Sunday and found the congregation standing in the parking lot.

According to witnesses, Mark Anthony Gilliam, his girlfriend Tabitha Ann Compton and Compton’s sister came to the church to watch a Christmas play that Gilliam’s three children were performing in. When they arrived, Compton allegedly got into an argument with Gilliam’s wife, the children’s biological mother.

The argument turned into a physical fight and spilled outside, police learned. That’s when, witnesses said, Gilliam stepped in and choked his wife.

During the fight, the wife’s mother was holding the youngest child when Compton knocked her over, police said.

Someone had blocked the driveway with a pickup truck, preventing the suspects from leaving.

Gilliam reportedly fought with officers, and upset “an already upset church congregation,” the news station reports.

The man was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, fourth-degree child abuse, menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The girlfriend faces charges for fourth-degree child abuse and second-degree disorderly conduct.

Meanwhile, a Canadian man was stabbed over a parking spot.

CTV reports a “51-year-old man is in serious but non-life-threatening condition after he was cut in the course of a fight that erupted over a parking spot at a commercial plaza in Brampton on Sunday night.”

When police arrived, they found the man stabbed in the leg “by some sort of edged or sharp item.”

Investigators said the fight occurred as result of a “dispute over a parking spot,” according to the news station.
