Are you a Christian? A Tennessee gun store is making it easier for you to defend yourself.

“If Christians are going to be targeted, we need to protect ourselves,” Brant Williams, owner of Frontier Firearms in Kingston, tells Local 8. “The best way to protect yourself is with the best weapon available, and that happens to be a handgun.”

Williams is offering shoppers a 5% discount if they say they’re a Christian. After spending $75 on accessories, buyers can also receive 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition for free. His promotion comes on the heels of the state’s lieutenant governor, Ron Ramsey, urging Christians to arm themselves.

Ramsey wrote last week:

The recent spike in mass shootings across the nation is truly troubling. Whether the perpetrators are motivated by aggressive secularism, jihadist extremism or racial supremacy, their targets remain the same: Christians and defenders of the West.

While this is not the time for widespread panic, it is a time to prepare. I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit. I have always believed that it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

Our enemies are armed. We must do likewise.

“Ron Ramsey had a good point,” Williams says. “Christians need to arm up.”

His promotion, of course, is not without its critics. Cameron Brooks, chairman of the Knox County Democratic Party, poo-pooed the idea.

“Anyone who is not Christian and in our society is excluded,” Brooks says. “I think that’s wrong. It turns people away from Christianity.”

But Williams doesn’t see it that way and he’s going to use his business to help Christians protect themselves.

“I’d like to let Christians know there are businesses out there, even though the law likes to silence us and those that oppose us like to silence us, but we won’t be silenced,” he says.
