Trump supporters who believed he would build a wall on the southern border are growing tired with the lack of progress, and now he is lashing out at the “haters” who don’t think he’s doing enough to fulfill a campaign promise.

The Drudge Report headlined a Bloomberg story detailing the fact that the federal government has built only 1.7 miles of new fence, despite spending $1.57 billion.

A lawyer for the U.S. House of Representatives provided the information Tuesday to the judge in Oakland, California, who is weighing requests from 20 state attorneys general and the the Sierra Club to block Trump from using funds not authorized by Congress to build the wall.

“The administration recently provided updated information to Congress on the status of its efforts as of April 30, 2019,” the attorney, Douglas Letter, said in a court filing. “Based on that updated information, it appears that CBP has now constructed 1.7 miles of fencing with its fiscal year 2018 funding.”

That was 3/4 of a mile more than the administration reported at the end of February, Letter said.

“Much of the Wall being built at the Southern Border is a complete demolition and rebuilding of old and worthless barriers with a brand new Wall and footings,” Trump wrote Wednesday morning.

“Problem is, the Haters say that is not a new Wall, but rather a renovation. Wrong, and we must build where most needed….”

He continued, “Also, tremendous work is being done on pure renovation – fixing existing Walls that are in bad condition and ineffective, and bringing them to a very high standard!”

“You see the hell we are going through trying to get the wall,” Trump said at a Panama City, Florida rally earlier this month. “We’re going to have over 400 miles of wall built, much of it is already started, by the end of next year, and we’ll conclude it pretty shortly thereafter. We’ll have the whole thing sealed up and it will be a lot easier.”

He didn’t clarify whether that was new wall or replacing existing outdated, ineffective barriers.
