As President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping were enjoying dessert last Thursday, Trump dropped a bomb: that the U.S. had fired dozens of missiles at a Syrian air base.

Talking to Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo in an interview that aired on Wednesday, Trump recounted the news.

“I was sitting at the table, we had finished dinner, we’re now having dessert,” Trump said, “and we were having the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake you’ve ever seen,” showing the dessert dimensions with his hands.

“President Xi was enjoying it. And I was given the message from the generals that the ships are locked and loaded, ‘What do you do?'” he said.

“And we made a determination to do (the strike), and the missiles were on the way.

It was during dessert, “And I said, ‘Mr. President, let me explain something to you. We’ve just fired 59 missiles,’ all of which hit by the way,” Trump said.

The president called the capability to fire missiles from hundreds of miles away “brilliant” and “genius.”
