A Miami Central High School is expected to face criminal charges after she attacked a teacher in a wild brawl recorded by numerous students and posted online Monday.

Video shows a large black female student dressed in all black locking arms with a black teacher near a desk in the corner of a classroom. Students screamed “Oh, oh, uh-oh” as the two tussled and the teen charged forward, slamming the teacher into the desk.

The student swung violently as the teacher clutched her hair in an apparent attempt to control the girl.

Someone yelled, “Go get security!”

When the student slipped loose, the teacher transitioned to a headlock and leaned into a different desk nearby. Seconds later, the teen broke free again and pushed the teacher to the ground.

As woman attempted to stand back up, the student charged forward with a flying body slam and knocked the teacher back to the floor. A black male who appeared to be a student then intervened to pull the girl off the teacher, who quickly crawled across the floor and rejoined the melee with a blow the girl’s head.

The teacher then applied a forearm across the face and used her body to pin the student to the ground until help arrived. Students screamed and hollered throughout the ordeal as they scrambled to stay out of the fracas.

“So this how y’all doing to teachers at Miami Central now?” ltlucky, “Florida’s New Boss,” wrote alongside the video on Instagram Monday. “These kids out of control and these teachers don’t get paid enough to be getting dishrag’d by a student.”

Students at the school who spoke with WPLG claim the teacher involved is regular substitute named Mrs. Ferguson.

“I thought it was just crazy,” student Melinia Gravil told the news site. “I saw the video on my phone and I was like oh my God.”

“I was just wondering like what made that student fight the teacher like that,” said Tiara Reed, another student.

“I don’t understand this generation these days, but it’s what’s taking place now,” substitute teacher Theodora Roundtree said. “Oh, it’s a way big difference. We had respect, we didn’t fight no teacher. We sat down, we did what they said. We did our work. You know, we just showed really respect.”

Miami-Dade County Public Schools issued a statement about the brawl that alleged the student was a sophomore who didn’t belong in the classroom, the Miami Herald reports.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools does not tolerate incidents that jeopardize the safety and well-being of students and staff members,” district spokeswoman Daisy Gonzalez-Diego wrote. “We are deeply troubled by the behavior exhibited in this video. As part of their investigation, Miami-Dade schools police will be reviewing various video sources and interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances behind this unfortunate event. Disciplinary action is forthcoming.”

Gonzalez-Diego later confirmed the investigation found “all indicators point to the student having been the aggressor.”

“It is evident the employee used great restraint in her attempts to de-escalate the situation,” she said. “As a result of her unacceptable behavior, the student will be disciplined according to the Code of Student conduct and may be facing criminal charges.”
