Jackson County Circuit Court Judge John McBain doesn’t take any lip from criminals in his courtroom.

Michigander Jacob Larson, in McBain’s courtroom for repeatedly stalking a former high school classmate, learned that lesson the hard way when McBain tossed off his robe and tackled him for mouthing off and resisting arrest in December, Mlive.com reports.

In recently released courtroom footage, McBain grew increasingly agitated by Larson throughout the hearing as the man attempted to blame his ridiculous behavior on his victim, whom he alleged McBain was “buddy-buddy” with. McBain acknowledged that his daughter is acquaintances with the victim, but stressed that he did not personally know the victim or Larson.

The woman victim told the court Larson was “obsessed” with her for some reason and sent her 22 Facebook messages between August, when McBain granted a personal protection order, and the Dec. 2 hearing.

“He’s not leaving me alone,” the 22-year-old told the judge.

McBain noted that Larson put things on the woman’s car, visited her at work, sat and waited at the woman’s car and engaged in other creepy antics.

“It’s Fatal Attraction stuff I warned you about last time,” McBain said. “I told you to just leave her alone.”

“I want her to tell me to leave her alone,” Larson shot back.

“You know what, I told you to leave her alone,” McBain replied. “And apparently that didn’t get through loud and clear so today you are going to jail for three days. And the next time you violate it you’re going …”

“You two are buddy-buddy,” Larson said, cutting him off.

That’s when things got ugly.

“You know what, you have a bad attitude. You had a bad attitude the last time … you were even referencing discussions about my own daughter,” McBain said.

“You and her are buddy-buddy. You all get along,” Larson said, again cutting the judge off.

“45 days county jail,” McBain countered.

“Bullshit,” Larson said.

“93 days in the county jail,” McBain said. “You want to go for a year, try it out. One more word out of you and it will be a year in county.”

“Over Facebook, really?” Larson replied.

“Over violations of my PPO and your conduct in the court room,” McBain shot back as he put down the gavel and came down from the bench.

A court officer moved to put Larson under arrest, and he wasn’t having it.

“Buddy-buddy motherfu**er,” Larson said.

“365 days county jail,” McBain said as he pointed in Larson’s face.

Larson continued to resist and repeatedly gestured toward his victim.

“Tell me to leave you alone!” he said, again pulling away from the court officer. “Tell me to leave you alone!”

“Tase his ass right now!” McBain shouted as he toss off his robe and assisted the officer. “Get your Taser.”

“I’ll bust your fu**ing arm,” he said. “Put your hand behind your back.”

Larson continued as the officer hauled him from the court room.

“You can’t f**king tell me to leave you alone?” he cried. “You can’t f**king tell me to leave you alone?”

McBain spoke with Mlive after the scuffle.

“There is one thing I don’t tolerate is disruptions in my courtroom,” he said.

McBain said he decided to take action because Larson was “totally disturbing the decorum of the court” and made aggressive actions toward his victim. The judge said it was the first time he’d had to leave the bench to help restrain a criminal in the courtroom.

McBain’s supervisor, Jackson County Chief Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wilson said it’s uncommon for a judge to use physical force, but it’s well within his authority.

“A judge has the power to take whatever action is necessary to maintain order in the courtroom,” Wilson said, according to the Associated Press.

McBain ultimately sentenced Larson to 93 days in county jail. Larson allegedly violated the protection order again when he was released, and the county prosecutor charged him with aggravated stalking in August.

The felony charge is punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

McBain recused himself from the case as he’s now a potential witness in the case, Mlive reports.
