Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose country lost 63 citizens on the plane, told reporters today that intelligence indicates Iran shot the commercial passenger plane down.

“We have intelligence from multiple sources, including our allies and our own intelligence. The evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile,” Trudeau said, according to ABC News.

“This may well have been unintentional,” he added. “This new information reinforces the need for a thorough investigation into this matter.”

AFP reports “82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 10 Swedes, four Afghans, three Germans and three Britons were on board, as well as 11 Ukrainians — including nine crew.”
