James Carville thinks the eternity of some Americans is at stake because they wonder whether foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation may have been made to buy influence.

“What the Clinton Foundation does is take money from rich people and give it to poor people,” Carville said on MSNBC. “Most people think that’s a pretty good idea.”

When asked if they should have sworn off foreign donations from the beginning,” Carville said, “If you ask me as a political advisor, of course. If you ask me as a human being, nah, I’m not too sure.”

He then invoked something his sixth grade teacher apparently told him at some point.

“Somebody’s going to hell over this. Because somebody somewhere — this is saving people’s lives,” he said, defending the foundation.

“Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough bristled.

“That’s BS. If it’s a five-star rated charity, guess what, other people can raise the money. It doesn’t have to be Bill Clinton calling somebody up, making them think, ‘well you know what, if I give him money, he could help me out,'” Scarborough said.
