House Democrats defiantly rehung a painting in the basement of the U.S. Capitol today and in doing so are reminding Americans they’re firmly on the side of anti-police forces.

Last Friday, Congressman Duncan Hunter took down the work of a Missouri high schooler that depicts a police officer as a pig and pointing a gun at the head of a young black person.

Hunter turned the painting over to Rep. William Lacy Clay, the sponsor of the piece.

Today, members of the Congressional Black Caucus rehung the painting.

Ron Hernandez, president of the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, praised Hunter’s unilateral action.

“At a time of our country facing rising crime and a shortage of those willing to work the streets as police officers and deputy sheriffs, we need to make it clear that depictions of law enforcement officers as pigs in our Nation’s Capital is not acceptable,” he said, according to Fox News.

Rep. Clay, whose constituent made the painting, said the rehanging the work isn’t about “the art competition anymore,” but rather, “It’s about defending the Constitution.”

It’s been hanging in the Cannon tunnel since June, but only received attention in December.
