A photo op with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and illegal immigrants on the southern border backfired when the Dem leader attempted to converse with them in English.

Pelosi and U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez visited a shelter in McAllen, Texas.

As she entered, Pelosi told a group lying on cots, “You’re going to San Jose?”

There was no reaction, before a interpreter jumped in to translate.

One of the men said he was going to North Carolina.

Pelosi held a round table discussion with illegal immigrants and their advocates.

After the event, Pelosi tweeted:

“The optimism and dreams that immigrants bring with them make America more American. That is something to be cherished,” she wrote before adding the hashtag “#NoBanNoWallNoRaids.”

According to the Rio Grande Guardian, Pelosi was then to attend a fundraiser at the McAllen Country Club.

The McAllen Country Club bills itself as “an exclusive, private, member-owned country club located within the city limits of McAllen, Texas.”

Probably not too many illegal immigrants allowed there.
