After an bomb attack in New York City and New Jersey last September, London Mayor Sadiq Khan told the Evening Standard that such attacks are “part and parcel” of living in a big city.

“It is a reality I’m afraid that London, New York, other major cities around the world have got to be prepared for these sorts of things,” he said.

“That means being vigilant, having a police force that is in touch with communities, it means the security services being ready, but also it means exchanging ideas and best practice.”

In January, he demanded that an invitation to President Trump for a state visit be rescinded over Trump’s executive order banning travel from terror-infected countries.

Last May, Khan disagreed with Trump’s view that “that western liberal values are incompatible with mainstream Islam.”

“London has proved him wrong,” Khan said.
